Science Not Silence Panel is Online!

CapSci teamed up with the Union of Concerned Scientists and Siena College to highlight the importance of protecting science and scientists at the federal level. While we all know science isn’t the only factor that goes into policy decisions, we agree that unadulterated independent scientific analysis should be fully available to both policymakers and the public as we tackle big public health and environmental challenges. We were especially excited to be joined by our own Congressman Paul Tonko, who shared information about his new Scientific Integrity Act, which would help protect science from political interference. Congressman Tonko joined a panel with three other local experts --Dr. Jeffrey Corbin, an ecologist from Union College, Kathleen Curtis, LPN, Executive Director of Clean and Healthy NY, and Dr. Tomoko Udo, an addiction scientist from UAlbany School of Public Health. This lively panel discussion gave residents of the Capital Region a chance to hear why protecting federal science matters here as well as across the country. The panel was moderated by Michael Halpern from the Union of Concerned Scientists.
